　　　　1965年8月28日，Shania Twain出生在加拿大的安大略省，在安大略长大的她自幼喜欢弹吉它，唱歌和写作，又受父母亲的引导而走上了音乐发展的道路。先是当地和酒吧，后又到了电台和电视台，音乐已经是孩童阶段的Shania Twain主要的生活内容了。21岁时，因车祸Shania Twain父母双亡，她独立支撑家里的四个弟弟，不久之后已经可以用唱歌酬劳安家了。数年后，Shania Twain已经颇有名气，在经纪人指点下，28岁的Shania Twain举行了小演唱会，她真正得到了大唱片公司的青睐。
　　
　　　　1993年，Shania Twain签约Mercury Nashville唱片公司并于同年发行专辑《Shania Twain》，这张专辑初获成功，在美国有几首单曲引起了歌迷们的注意，在欧洲还获得了电视台的最佳新人奖。专辑发行之后，Shania Twain与曾经为AC/DC，Def Leppard等著名乐队担任制作人的Robert John "Mutt" Lange追入爱河。该年年底，Shania Twain便与这位制作人完婚，并且开始投身新专辑的制作，由于丈夫的摇滚乐经验，Shania Twain的音乐也开始了乡村音乐与摇滚乐的融合。
