  To Thomas Moore 致汤姆•摩尔 --Lord George Gordon Byron乔治•高登•拜伦

  My boat is on the shore,
  And my bark is on the sea;
  But before I go, Tom Moore,
  Here's a double health to thee!
  大船抛锚海上;
  Here's a sigh to those who love me,
  And a smile to those who hate;
  And, whatever sky's above me,
  Here's a heart for every fate.
  向恨我者微笑;
  Though the ocean roar around me,
  Yet it still shall bear me on;
  Though a desert should surround me,
  It hath springs that may be won.
  仍将载我前往;
  Were't the last drop in the well,
  As I gasp'd upon the brink,
  Ere my fainting spirit fell
  'Tis to thee that I would drink.
  With that water, as this wine,
  The libation I would pour
  Should be - peace with thine and mine,
  And a health to thee, Tom Moore.

译拜伦诗Isles of Greece, The 希腊群岛

Isles of Greece, The 希腊群岛 --George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron拜伦
1.
The isles of Greece, the isles of Greece!
Where burning Sappho loved and sung,
Where grew the arts of war and peace,
Where Delos rose, and Phoebus sprung!
Eternal summer gilds them yet,
But all, except their sun, is set...
2.
The mountains look on Marathon--
And Marathon looks on the sea;
And musing there an hour alone,
I dreamed that Greece might still be free;
For standing on the Persians' grave,
I could not deem myself a slave.
马拉松守望大海;
梦见希腊或仍自由富强;
3.
A king sat on the rocky brow
Which looks o'er sea-born Salamis;
And ships, by thousands, lay below,
And men in nations--all were his!
He counted them at break of day--
And when the sun set, where were they?
俯瞰海中的群岛萨拉米;
4.
And where are they? And where art thou?
My country? On thy voiceless shore
The heroic lay is tuneless now—
The heroic bosom beats no more!
And must thy lyre, so long divine,
Degenerate into hands like mine?
5.
'Tis something, in the dearth of fame,
Though linked among a fettered race,
To feel at least a patriot's shame,
Even as I sing, suffuse my face;
For what is left the poet here?
For Greeks a blush--for Greece a tear....
甚至放歌时,我羞愧满面;
6
Fill high the bowl with Samian wine!
Our virgins dance beneath the shade--
I see their glorious black eyes shine;
But gazing on each glowing maid,
My own the burning teardrop laves,
To think such breasts must suckle slaves.
我看见她们的黑眼珠晶晶亮;
7
Place me on Sunium's marbled steep,
Where nothing, save the waves and I,
May hear our mutual murmurs sweep;
There, swanlike, let me sing and die:
A land of slaves shall ne'er be mine--
Dash down yon cup of Samian wine!



注:
1.Sappho

My Soul is Dark我灵魂黯然-George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron拜伦

My soul is dark - Oh! quickly string
The harp I yet can brook to hear;
And let thy gentle fingers fling
Its melting murmurs o'er mine ear.
If in this heart a hope be dear,
That sound shall charm it forth again:
If in these eyes there lurk a tear,
'Twill flow, and cease to burn my brain.
弹奏我还能勉强听的竖琴;
But bid the strain be wild and deep,
Nor let thy notes of joy be first:
I tell thee, minstrel, I must weep,
Or else this heavy heart will burst;
For it hath been by sorrow nursed,
And ached in sleepless silence, long;
And now 'tis doomed to know the worst,
And break at once - or yield to song.
否则我沉重的心就要爆裂;
又在无眠静寂里痛得久长;

By the Rivers of Babylon We Sat Down and Wept (1815)
-Lord Byron
1
We sat down and wept by the waters
Of Babel, and thought of the day
When our foe, in the hue of his slaughters,
Made Salem's high places his prey;
And ye, oh her desolate daughters!
Were scattered all weeping away.
焚毁了高耸的塞伦神殿;
2
While sadly we gazed on the river
Which rolled on in freedom below,
They demanded the song; but, oh never
That triumph the stranger shall know!
May this right hand be withered for ever,
Ere it string our high harp for the foe!
3
On the willow that harp is suspended,
Oh Salem! its sound should be free;
And the hour when thy glories were ended
But left me that token of thee:
And ne'er shall its soft tones be blended
With the voice of the spoiler by me!

Maid of Athens, ere we part 雅典女郎-Lord Byron拜伦

Maid of Athens, ere we part,
Give, oh, give back my heart!
Or, since that has left my breast,
Keep it now, and take the rest!
Hear my vow before I go,
Zoл mou sas agapo.
By those tresses unconfined,
Wooed by each Aegean wind;
By those lids whose jetty fringe
Kiss thy soft cheeks' blooming tinge;
By those wild eyes like the roe,
Zoл mou sas agapo.
爱琴海的清风留恋;
凭你小鹿般撩人的双眼;
By that lip I long to taste;
By that zone-encircled waist;
By all the token-flowers that tell
What words can never speak so well;
By love's alternate joy and woe,
Zoл mou sas agapo.
这一切胜过千言万语;
凭爱情反反复复的悲欢;
Maid of Athens! I am gone:
Think of me, sweet! when alone.
Though I fly to Istambol,
Athens holds my heart and soul:
Can I cease to love thee? No!
Zoл mou sas agapo.

When We Two Parted吾俩分别时 -Lord George Gordon Byron拜伦

When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.
吻更寒;
The dew of the morning
Sunk chill on my brow--
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame;
I hear thy name spoken,
And share in its shame.
声名轻贱;
They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shrudder comes o'er me--
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee so well--
Long, long I shall rue thee,
Too deeply to tell.
如丧钟耳畔响起;
In secret we met--
In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee?--
With silence and tears.

  On This Day I Complete My Thirty-Sixth Year我今天三十六岁
  George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron 拜伦(Missolonghi, Jan. 22, 1824)

  'Tis time this heart should be unmoved,
  Since others it hath ceased to move:
  Yet, though I cannot be beloved,
  Still let me love!
  My days are in the yellow leaf;
  The flowers and fruits of love are gone;
  The worm, the canker, and the grief,
  Are mine alone!
  我的日子已似枯叶;
  爱之花与果荡然无存;
  The fire that on my bosom preys
  Is lone as some volcanic isle;
  No torch is kindled at its blaze—
  A funeral pile!
  好似孤独的火山岛;
  The hope, the fear, the jealous care,
  The exalted portion of the pain
  And power of love, I cannot share,
  But wear the chain.
  But 'tis not thus—and 'tis not here—
  Such thoughts should shake my soul, nor now,
  Where glory decks the hero's bier,
  Or binds his brow.
  The sword, the banner, and the field,
  Glory and Greece, around me see!
  The Spartan, borne upon his shield,
  Was not more free.
  Awake! (not Greece—she is awake!)
  Awake, my spirit! Think through whom
  Thy life-blood tracks its parent lake,
  And then strike home!
  Tread those reviving passions down,
  Unworthy manhood!—unto thee
  Indifferent should the smile or frown
  Of beauty be.
  If thou regret'st thy youth, why live?
  The land of honourable death
  Is here:—up to the field, and give
  Away thy breath!
  Seek out—less often sought than found—
  A soldier's grave, for thee the best;
  Then look around, and choose thy ground,
  And take thy rest.
  士兵之墓,对你最适宜;


Adieu, adieu! my native shore
Fades o'ver the waters blue;
The night-winds sigh, the breakers roar,
And shrieks the wild sea-mew.
Yon sun that sets upon the sea
We follow in his flight;
Farewell awhile to him and thee,
My native Land-Good Night!
A few short hours, and he will rise
To give the morrow birth;
And I shall hail the main and skies,
But not my mother earth.
Deserted is my own good hall,
Its hearth is desolate;
Wild weeds are gathering on the wall;
My dog howls at the gate.
渐渐消失的蔚蓝;
我们也随其远去;
新的一日又将开始;
壁炉里不见火焰;
墙头野草长满;

Remind Me Not, Remind Me Not

  Remind Me Not, Remind Me Not 莫让我想起 -George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron拜伦

  Remind me not, remind me not,
  Of those beloved, those vanish'd hours,
  When all my soul was given to thee;
  Hours that may never be forgot,
  Till Time unnerves our vital powers,
  And thou and I shall cease to be.
  我曾把整个灵魂献给你;
  Can I forget---canst thou forget,
  When playing with thy golden hair,
  How quick thy fluttering heart did move?
  Oh! by my soul, I see thee yet,
  With eyes so languid, breast so fair,
  And lips, though silent, breathing love.
  When thus reclining on my breast,
  Those eyes threw back a glance so sweet,
  As half reproach'd yet rais'd desire,
  And still we near and nearer prest,
  And still our glowing lips would meet,
  As if in kisses to expire.
  And then those pensive eyes would close,
  And bid their lids each other seek,
  Veiling the azure orbs below;
  While their long lashes' darken'd gloss
  Seem'd stealing o'er thy brilliant cheek,
  Like raven's plumage smooth'd on snow.
  蔚蓝色的眼球拉幔帐;
  I dreamt last night our love return'd,
  And, sooth to say, that very dream
  Was sweeter in its phantasy,
  Than if for other hearts I burn'd,
  For eyes that ne'er like thine could beam
  In Rapture's wild reality.
  Then tell me not, remind me not,
  Of hours which, though for ever gone,
  Can still a pleasing dream restore,
  Till Thou and I shall be forgot,
  And senseless, as the mouldering stone

I Saw Thee Weep 吾见汝哭泣 --George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron

I saw thee weep---the big bright tear
Came o'er that eye of blue;
And then methought it did appear
A violet dropping dew:
I saw thee smile---the sapphire's blaze
Beside thee ceased to shine;
It could not match the living rays
That filled that glance of thine.
As clouds from yonder sun receive
A deep and mellow dye,
Which scarce the shade of coming eve
Can banish from the sky,
Those smiles unto the moodiest mind
Their own pure joy impart;
Their sunshine leaves a glow behind
That lightens o'er the heart.
噙汝碧眼里;
汝旁蓝宝石停止闪耀;
透露其自身之欢欣;

 Bride of Abydos (canto I, st. 6)-Lord Byron 拜伦(George Gordon Noel Byron),

这是拜伦的长诗Bride of Abydosd(阿比托斯新娘)中的一节

The light of love, the purity of grace,
The mind, the Music breathing from her face,
The heart whose softness harmonized the whole,
And, oh! the eye was in itself a Soul!

She Walks in Beauty 伊轻移玉步仪态万方--George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron

She walks in beauty like the night
of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
meets in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
which heaven to gaudy day denies.
婉若晴朗夜空群星闪亮;
One shade the more, one ray the less,
had half impair'd the nameless grace

译拜伦诗 It Is The Hour 此刻

It Is the Hour 此刻 --George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron

It is the hour when from the boughs
The nightingale's high note is heard;
It is the hour -- when lover's vows
Seem sweet in every whisper'd word;
And gentle winds and waters near,
Make music to the lonely ear.
Each flower the dews have lightly wet,
And in the sky the stars are met,
And on the wave is deeper blue,
And on the leaf a browner hue,
And in the Heaven that clear obscure

So We'll Go No More a-Roving 不远行 --George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron

So we'll go no more a-roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart still be as loving,
And the moon still be as bright.
For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul outwears the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.
Though the night was made for loving,

For Music 音乐 --George Gordon Byron, Lord Byron

THERE be none of Beauty's daughters
With a magic like thee;
And like music on the waters
 Is thy sweet voice to me:
When, as if its sound were causing
The charmed ocean's pausing,
The waves lie still and gleaming,
And the lull'd winds seem dreaming:
未有汝之魔力;
And the midnight moon is weaving
