The stars may dissolve, and the fountain of light
May sink into ne'er ending chaos and night,
Our mansions must fall, and earth vanish away,
But thy courage, O Erin! may never decay.
星辰可溶于天穹,光之源泉
可隐于无尽之混沌与黑暗,
我们的大厦坍塌,生灵涂炭,
但,爱尔兰,你的勇气不可变!
See! the wide wasting ruin extends all around,
Our ancestors' dwellings lie sunk on the ground,
Our foes ride in triumph throughout our domains,
And our mightiest heroes lie stretched on the plains.
看!四周尽是断壁残垣,
我们的祖宅崩倒塌陷,
强虏庆凯旋扬马策鞭,
我们的英雄疆场长眠。
Ah! dead is the harp which was wont to give pleasure,
Ah! sunk is our sweet country's rapturous measure,
But the war note is waked, and the clangour of spears,
The dread yell of Sloghan yet sounds in our ears.
唉!曾给人欢愉的竖琴断弦,
唉!甜美的山歌民谣再听不见,
但闻战歌声声响,呐喊连天,
刀枪剑戟铿锵碰撞震荡耳畔。
Ah! where are the heroes! triumphant in death,
Convulsed they recline on the blood-sprinkled heath,
Or the yelling ghosts ride on the blast that sweeps by,
And my countrymen! vengeance! incessantly cry.
啊!英雄何在!死得壮烈凄惨,
有的浑身痉挛靠在血染的石南,
有的灵魂驾狂风高声呼喊:
“同胞们!复仇!血要血还!”......

For the lords who lay ye low?
Wherefore weave with toil and care
The rich robes your tyrants wear?
英国人,为何给老爷
犁地,他们却看不起你?
为何辛苦细心织布
给暴君做华服丽衣?
Wherefore feed and clothe and save,
From the cradle to the grave,
Those ungrateful drones who would
Drain your sweat -- nay, drink your blood?
为什么要喂养、服侍、保护
他们,从摇篮到坟墓,
那些忘恩负义的雄蜂会耗尽
你们的汗水—不,喝尽你们的鲜血?
Wherefore, Bees of England, forge
Many a weapon, chain, and scourge,
That these stingless drones may spoil
The forced produce of your toil?

大量的武器、镣铐和皮鞭,

却在巨厦里装饰别人的房间。
